You've Got Mail! Email Etiquette and Fundamentals
Explore Global View on Marketing Landscape (Apr 19 2012)
by Sarahlemelin
How many emails do you send per day? Email is an essential tool for communication and should be taken seriously and professionally. It isn’t uncommon to take short cuts with email, sacrificing the norms of grammar, and in some cases basic politeness. This is especially bad if your writing to a journalist who might get over 100 email pitches per day and wont bother with emails that are rude, grammatically incorrect or formatted strangely.
You want to make sure you’re making the best possible impression through email, as this is likely your main form of interaction with the press and clients. Sure, a typo here and there might not be a deal breaker, but if you’re consistently overlooking errors that make your message difficult to understand, it could come across as inexperienced, unprofessional or careless. This blog covers some email fundamentals that you don’t want to neglect.
Fill in the subject line. It’s considerate to tell people upfront what the email you’re sending pertains to. In addition, the subject line is your opportunity to grab the recipient’s attention - so take advantage of that. Your subject should be specific, relevant and short (eight words ...

For many in the business-to-business (B2B) world, social media was something watched from the sidelines until seemingly overnight it became a major part of a successful overall marketing strategy. A quick glance at the job boards underscores the importance companies are placing on social media. With many of these organizations jumping on every available social network, it is time to take a step back and evaluate your organizations goals, strategy and tactics. Just like any good marketing program, you need to clearly define your goals and match them to your strategy / tactics BEFORE you get started.
That’s why ICE is going to be walking through our expert tips for establishing a well-rounded social media strategy over the coming months. We will start at the beginning with the “Two ‘P’s” – personality and platforms. (Not to be confused with the traditional “4 Ps” of marketing.)
Just as your organization has its own unique set of differentiators, it also has unique personality that should be reflected in its social media presence. Before you embark on establishing your company’s social media life consider not only what sets it apart from its peers, but also the overall culture and the goals of ...

PR and Social Media – The Make or Break Factors at Mobile World Congress 2012
Explore Global View on Marketing Landscape (Mar 16 2012) Events , Social Media
by Sarahlemelin
ICE is still recovering from this year’s Mobile World Congress trade show, as are thousands of marketing teams around the globe. For the third year in a row, we had the pleasure of helping a client create a successful presence at MWC, the largest industry event in mobile. It was a whirlwind of journalist briefings, product demonstrations, and running around the “App Planet”, but as always this show remains our favorite event of the year. Here’s our round up of the event - what worked, what flopped and what we learned:
Smash hits!
Product Launch Statue
Huawei did a great job creating buzz and harnessing the power of social sharing and media. The company found an effective way to permeate social media and generate buzz by displaying a Pegasus statue made entirely of Ascend devices near the entrance of its pavilion and the App Planet. This statue has been used in countless articles rounding up MWC and has been posted on social media sites like Twitter and Flickr, creating a lot of chatter. It gave the media an iconic image to represent MWC and attendees a chance to pose for pictures and share it with their networks.

Will Video Hub be Just a Blip on the Stream?
Explore adweek.com (May 15 2012) Initial Funding , Venture Activities
When Blip came on the scene in 2005, the pioneering startup was ahead of its time, building a network and set of tools designed to help the nascent community of independent Web series. And when Blip unveiled a Hulu-esque consumer -acing hub last year, the timing seeming ideal, as interest in original video content was swelling.
But that was $100 million in YouTube seed money, and roughly 100 million Web series ago. With 18 different companies hosting digital upfront events in the past month, one might wonder, is Blip still relevant? Or will talent and advertisers start bypassing the company in search of fortune and glory on the YouTubes, Hulus and Yahoos of the world?
“The YouTube channels will likely pull advertisers from Blip given advertisers desire to be associated with the YouTube brand and its large and well connected salesforce.” said Adam Kasper, evp partnerships and investments, Havas Digital. “And the new YouTube channels are very high quality.”
But not everyone agrees. “While Blip may not have huge scale, they can really blow things out for your brand,” said Pohmedia digital strategist Jordan Bratter. "My experience has been tremendous."
Blip continues to be popular in the indy creative world ...
