Top Mobile Marketing Trends to Watch in 2013
Explore Global View on Marketing Landscape (Mar 13 2013)
Our office discusses Mobile Marketing a lot. It is one of our favorite marketing trends. The tactics being employed by marketers are constantly changing and improving which makes mobile marketing especially fascinating. In 2010, we swooned over the possibilities location based services would offer advertisers. Now, at the beginning of 2013, it’s hard to believe how much more is now possible after such a short period of time.
Have you been keeping up with the news? Here are our picks as the most promising things ahead for mobile marketing in 2013.
Corporate Marketing Pays Attention to Mobile: More people than ever have a mobile device, whether it’s a phone or a tablet. Thanks to the release of new and less expensive options in 2012, such as the iPad Mini, everyone is connected. If you don’t believe the thousands of articles available quoting numbers and stats, believe me when I tell you even my techno-illiterate mother got an iPad in 2012. She now spends half her day on it, she could even be reading this blog…. Yikes! Okay, that’s a bit of a tangent but you can see my point; more than ever consumers are interacting with ...

The Importance of Digital Media in Today’s Marketing Landscape
Explore Global View on Marketing Landscape (Feb 20 2013)
Digital is in and print is out. Old news right? So why has it taken so many companies so long to build a robust digital marketing plan? Change can be overwhelming, and it didn’t take long before digital evolved from online to mobile where the possibilities are endless. If you got left behind, now is the time to catch up! It’s not too late.
Today’s consumers are constantly on the move and are ruled by the three screens, television, computers and mobile phones. Riding the subway it seems like 9 out of 10 people have their nose in their smart phone. So, it’s no surprise that the MBTA in Boston is experiencing a downward trend in advertising sales. The public transportation department has long sold ads in the form of banners on buses, subways and station walls. In a digital marketplace they are realizing like so many other companies that they need to adapt and have recently rolled out the first of 44 planned advertising screens to be placed in high traffic stations.
That’s just one example of adapting traditional marketing strategies to the potential digital marketing offers. Instead of selling one banner to place ...

Self Branding Tips for Marketers and Beyond
Explore Global View on Marketing Landscape (Jul 26 2012)
by Sarahlemelin
This blog topic has been in the works since ICE started growing and hiring more team members. As a company, ICE works to teach other businesses the power of branding. As part of the interview team, I’ve come to recognize and appreciate the power of self-branding as well. Self-branding follows many of the same principals; whether it’s for a job interview, important meeting, or client pitch—smart self-branding can make all the difference in setting you apart from the competition. If you’re thinking of applying for an internship at ICE – make sure you pay attention. Attire: I can’t tell you how many times I have cringed when a candidate walked in to an interview wearing jeans. No matter the position, no matter the company, be it a coffee shop or finance firm – do not underestimate the power of an appropriate outfit. In the words of Neil Patrick Harris, “Suit-up!”. Well thought out attire shows professionalism, respect, and effort. If you aren’t putting in effort to look your best on the one day you have to really showcase yourself, what effort can be expected down the line? Cover Letter: Your cover letter is the first impression ...

Five Topics to Avoid When Writing Your Business's Blog
Explore socialmediatoday.com (May 24 2013) North America , Marketing Overall , Social Media , Venture Activities
As more businesses continue to enter the blogosphere, they run the risk of publishing clichéd, outdated articles in the hopes of attracting a wider audience. As I’ve worked to grow my own company blog, I’ve seen plenty of other business blogs that continue to publish material that is either uninteresting or unprofessional and, to stem the flow of poorly written postings, here are five topics I earnestly believe business blogs should avoid.

Startup PR Tip: To Get Press, Don't Pitch Your Product
Explore On Startups by Dharmesh Shah (May 16 2013) North America , Venture Activities
I get pitches every day from entrepreneurs, PR agencies and book authors who hope to get an article about them written on my blog, OnStartups (300,000 readers) — or on HubSpot's marketing blog(over 1.5 million visits a month). It's sad that most of those pitches fall flat and are likely to be completely ignored. A waste of time and money for everyone. For example, here’s a pitch from a PR professional. I’ve changed it slightly to avoid embarrassing anyone: “I’m working with a wonderful new business… The owners grew up together and decided to go into business… it’s a story I’m sure your readers will care a lot about!” Uh, no. I don’t really care about their story. No one else probably will either — except maybe their moms. Don’t get me wrong. I’m sure the entrepreneurs are great people, but many entrepreneurs can tell a tale of struggle and euphoria and heartbreak and someday, against all odds, turning their dreams into reality and making their business a success. While occasionally we might be inspired or motivated, for the most part we’re just not that interested in other ...
